About this install

This homeowner was looking for a battery system that could do more than simply store excess solar energy. With a larger home and higher electricity demand, they wanted enough capacity for evening use, reliable backup power and flexibility for future energy needs.

The homeowner also preferred a premium energy storage brand and wanted a system that could provide substantial capacity without unnecessarily taking up additional space.

The solution

We installed a Sigenergy SigenStor system with a 15kW inverter and 40kWh of battery storage, together with a Sigen Energy Gateway for backup functionality.

The five 8kWh battery modules are configured as a single battery tower, providing substantial storage for evening and overnight consumption. The high‑output inverter was selected to better match the home's larger electrical loads, rather than sizing the system around a typical household profile.

Why 15kW and 40kWh?

For a larger home with loads such as central air conditioning, EV charging or a swimming pool, battery capacity and inverter power need to be considered together.

The 40kWh battery provides more stored energy for periods of higher consumption, while the 15kW inverter provides the output capacity needed for a higher‑demand residential system. The modular design also leaves room to expand the battery system in the future, subject to system limits and installation requirements.

Built for backup and future energy needs

Backup power was another key requirement for this homeowner. With the appropriate Gateway and electrical configuration, the system can provide backup power during a grid outage, helping keep essential household loads operating.

The system also provides a pathway towards future EV DC charging and V2X applications, giving the homeowner more flexibility as EV and home energy technology continues to develop.

Why the homeowner chose this system

The homeowner's priorities came down to three things: high power output, substantial storage capacity and room to grow.

Rather than simply recommending the largest battery available, we considered the home's energy demand, available space, backup requirements and future plans before selecting the final configuration.

40kWh battery. 15kW inverter. Designed for today's energy needs, with flexibility for tomorrow.
